A warm blanket, a movie, and a cup of hot cocoa sound like the recipe for a perfect winter night. A cozy winter movie surrounded by friends and family is all you need. Winter movies can make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. They can be full of emotions, snow, and a bit of nostalgia. So, if the snowy weather outside is putting you in a movie-watching mood, we’ve got you covered.
Winters make us want to crave content that comforts us. So, if a movie has romance, family bonds, or even mistletoe, they’re going to be perfect. There are so many great winter movies that you can watch with friends and family. Especially if you have Spectrum TV Select or Netflix, the possibilities can be endless. So, here are a few of the best snuggly movies:
The Holiday
Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Jack Black, and Cameron Diaz all in one movie! This is probably what dreams are made up of. Two women who are sick of their lives and relationships swap homes – in different countries. The Holiday is probably what created the idea for AirBnBs. The story takes a turn when both of them fall in love with local guys. The movie has all the emotions and a testament that you can fall in love when you least expect it.
When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally is a Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal classic rom-com that will always remain fresh. They meet accidentally and become friends for a short time. But life has other plans for them. They meet again after five years, and one thing happens after the other. Now, they have to confront their true feelings for each other.
Frozen
The Disney classic gave birth to the earworm song ‘Let it Go’. The amazing characters like Elsa, Anna, and Olaf makes this movie perfect for all ages. There are some cute moments, some angry ones, and an evil encounter with a fake prince. But the story is unique and even has a sequel now. Perhaps the biggest takeaway is the importance of family and loving someone for who they are.
Home Alone
If you want to feel old, Macauly Culkin is now 41 years old. But that doesn’t change the fact that Home Alone is still a classic holiday movie. It is one of the funniest Christmas movies of all time, and the characters are iconic. Kevin is accidentally left home alone while his family is away for the holidays. So now, he has to keep burglars away from his home by being street smart.
The Harry Potter Series
If you don’t know about Harry Potter, you’ve probably been living under a rock. The classic series has fantastic Christmas scenes and warm relationships. And you can rewatch the movies countless times without getting bored. Harry, Ron, and Hermoine are probably the best on-screen friendship to exist. Moreover, the films are full of emotions and adventure that take you around the wizarding world.
Serendipity
If you don’t believe in fate, this movie is going to change your opinion. Sara and Jonathan meet at Bloomingdale’s around Christmas time. They get to talking and spend some time at Serendipity 3. But instead of sharing their contact information, they leave their next meeting to fate. Years later, they stumble upon each other’s paths again. So, fate brings them back together as if it was their destiny. So, if you are in for a roller coaster of emotions, this movie is quite the ride.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
If you are going to watch it for the last scene in the snow alone, we don’t blame you. It is a modern take on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Bridget, a 32-year-old single woman, begins to write a diary. The diary has her opinions about sex, men, food, and whatnot. But what she thinks is her catharsis almost makes her lose someone she pines for. She is all ready to take charge of her life and change things. But two romantic encounters change her perspective about relationships and love. The romance and emotions are going to make you want a warm hug.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (The Chronicles of Narnia)
A group of children finds a wardrobe while playing. But there is a catch. It is a portal that takes them to a mystical winter wonderland called Narnia. They soon realize that all this was not a chance encounter. Now, they have to gear up and fight the evil White Witch to save their land. They grow up to become adults in Narnia. But when they come out of that wardrobe, they return as kids again. Even though the movie was released in 2005, it has impressive CGI work. Moreover, the child stars carry the story remarkably well.
