A feature is currently and apparently getting tested out by Instagram.

Have you had the frustration of looking through your whole Instagram feed to find your loved ones’ posts? Many like me cannot decide on whether they like Instagram or not. Instagram can be lethal and pressure you to be perfect for your posts, something we all have surrendered to before.

New “Favorite” Feature

However, it is a platform you get used to and in the habit of regularly checking and not only posting.

There was a feature on everyone’s mind, and it seems like it got heard by Instagram. It is coming out with “Favorites,” its new feature.

Facebook has a similar feature, where users can choose up to 30 friends where their posts will get shown on the top of your Facebook News Feed.

The social media app is working on a feature that will give more access to me, as the user, and what I wish to see and fill my feed with. If I want to see dogs on my news feed, why should I not? I should get to see what I want on my news feed.

Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer, and gossiper found and let users know about the “favorites” feature Instagram is working on. He claims the platform will let users create a list of other user accounts that they like on their “favorite” section. This feature will put those accounts on the priority list of the user’s feed.

Paluzzi posted some screenshots on his Twitter, explaining the “favorite” feature tweeting:

“Posts from your favorites are shown higher in feed…We don’t send notifications when you edit your favorites.”

Doesn’t this feature sound too familiar? There is a version of this feature that came out in 2017. The “Close Freinds” feature. It allows users to create a more private Instagram story, where the user could share all their personal stories to a few people they add to their “Close Friends” list.

Adam Mosseri, the Instagram head, explained how Instagram ranks its feed and stories and the various factors it reflects on to do that.

It looks at the recent posts, the people you are following posts, at first. After that, it looks at how important a post is according to how popular it is, the format it is in, the number of times you interact with that person, the number of posts you liked, your interaction history, with many other things.

Once all these things get considered, Instagram predicts the chances of how much you will spend on a post, like, save or comment on it and check their profile out.

Mosseri explains how the more action you take on, the heavy the action weighs, the higher it will rank on your Instagram feed.

The whole Instagram feed with change with your loved posts and seeing the posts that make you happy.

Currently, this feature is yet developing, and Instagram has not started testing it soon. However, we hope it comes into action soon.
