Windows 11 Launches Oct. 5: Here Are the PCs That Will Get It First

“New Eligible Devices,” a list Microsoft released of devices to be at the front line of Windows 11.

The launch of Windows 11 date is now closer than ever. An announcement got made by Microsoft how the next-generation operating system, Windows 11, will come out as a free upgrade for PCs starting from October 5th. The Windows 11 rollout will get tottered by the company, meaning on the first day, you might not get the chance to upgrade to it on the first day.

The launch date got announced in a blog post by Aaron Woodman, the marketing chief of Windows, also said:

“..new eligible devices will get offered the upgrade first.”

The different devices included in the list of the “new eligible devices” are Acer Swift 5, Acer Swift X, Asus Zenbook Flip 13 OLED, Asus Zenbook 14, Alienware X15, Alienware X17, Dell XPS 13, HP Spectre x360 14, HP Envy x360 15, Lenovo Yoga 7, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro, Samsung Galaxy Book Pro, Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360, and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 4.

Through the mid of 2022, Windows 11 will keep coming to all the supported devices. According to Woodman, it will figure out which devices to get prioritized during the rollout by looking at the “hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of the device, and other factors that impact the upgrade experience.”

Your PC will get a pop-up alert of the Windows Update; you can upgrade to it. You will go to Settings > Windows Update > Check for Updates, and upgrade any upgrades shown. A new PC Health Check app is currently getting prepared by Microsoft. This app was, as of yet, only available for Windows Insiders. However, it is getting modified so all PC users can check the eligibility of their device for Windows 11.

Microsoft ran Windows 11 beta for the Windows Insiders program in June. The beta program caused confusion regarding the list of the system requirements Windows 10 PCs would need to get the Windows 11 upgrade. However, Microsoft clarified these requirements and had an alternative for PCs that will not meet the minimum requirement needed. In a technical way, it seems like all unsupported devices will not get the Windows 11 software updates or possibly the security patches.

The list provided by Microsoft of the PCs ready to get Windows 11 installed in its announcement of the launch date (and detailed each quality of the machine) made it clear that the company would like its users to buy a new laptop from its hardware partners.

Nonetheless, if you do not want to buy a new computer and your current PC could run Windows 11, you would want to not go ahead with the upgrade if you depend on a discontinued Microsoft feature of third-party software that has not gotten optimized for the Updated OS.

You have four years to prepare yourself with the fated, as Microsoft announced it will only support Windows 10 until October 14th, 2025.
