iOS 15 appears to have broken Stadia’s streaming video game

Google Stadia no longer works (or very badly) under iOS 15. A temporary solution exists … with mixed results.

Since it is now almost unthinkable for video game streaming service providers to bend the rules if they want to exist on the App Store, they are almost forced to offer their services through alternative methods. In other words, by making their platform directly compatible with Safari, the mobile browser of the Cupertino company. This means that owners of iOS devices can stream their favorite games to their phones without the developers having to bow to the Apple brand.

Google Stadia no longer works (or very badly) on iOS 15

It might sound like a win-win situation, but unfortunately, it looks like the situation is more complicated for Google Stadia. Indeed, the iOS 15 update appears to have made Stadia unplayable on iOS devices. According to a post on Reddit, a Stadia community manager explained the situation, while giving a (temporary?) The solution to this problem.

A temporary solution exists … with mixed results

To enjoy Google Stadia on iOS 15, users need to change a setting in Safari. To do this, go to Settings> Safari> Advanced> Experimental features. You must then deactivate “WebRTC Platform UDP Sockets”. It is difficult, at this stage, to know whether this will permanently correct the problem or not. And be aware that some users still seem to have difficulty playing even with this setting disabled. Some are also entitled to gray borders when they play.

No one knows in any case where this problem could come from and if it is a bug in Safari or if Stadia needs to be updated to make sure it is compatible with iOS 15. Either way, if you’re having trouble with Google Stadia on your iOS 15 device, try this solution. Maybe this one will work for you. Otherwise, you’ll want to wait for a possible solution from the Mountain View firm.
