Asus Just Made Its Blazing Fast Gamer Phone Even More Extreme

Snapdragon 888+ chip and more RGB now come with the ROG Phone 5s.

Blazing Fast Gamer Phone

The strongest phone in the market was ROG Phone 5 from Asus. However, it seems like, for Asus that was not enough, as, after five months after releasing this phone, the company announced they are coming out with an even more powerful and fast version for its gaming phone. The new model has an available base model but with the fancy “Pro” at the end. The Asus ROG Phone 5s has a similar design to its forerunner.

However, it does come with a few distinguished updates, like the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chip, faster touch sampling rate, and on the back, it has a new OLED color display.

Such upgrades might not seem like a lot but it is interesting to see how the ROG Phone 5s got the honor of becoming the first phone to have a Snapdragon 888+ chip, something that even the snapdragon insiders Smartphone (built by Asus) owned by Qualcomm does not even have.

Higher Clock Speed

Gamers will like how the SD888+ has a higher clock speed, making it work extremely well with its 360Hz touch sample rate, delivering a more touch control responsive reaction. This feature is nice when you want to try to gather every drop you can of performance.

The starting price of the phone is right under 30,000 New Taiwan Dollars (about $1,075). The base ROG Phone 5s and other upper models go up to 37,990 NTD (about $1,365). Definitely, Asus’s new ROG Phone 5s Pro is not going to be cheap. The base models are also offering 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and going to 18GB of RAM and 512GB storage for the top top-spec models, making it hard to see where the money is going.

Display

However, the most charming ROG Phone 5s Pro feature is its rear-mounted OLED display that now has 6 pre-configured animations for various things like signaling for a call incoming, starting a game, or plugging in an accessory or add-ons. Can we say it is a bit too much? Yes, it is, but having a device with an over-exaggerated rear screen hits the right spots. Moreover, if you do not like the pre-installed animations of Asus, you can make your own.

Anywhere else, many of the specifications of ROG Phone 5s has stayed the same, with a 6,000 mAH battery, a 6.73-inch AMOLED display, triple back cameras, onboard DAC, and dual USB-C ports. Prominently Asus did not change or make touches to the last model’s built-in touch buttons, so you can play your games like you do without needing extra gamepads.

Wireless Charging

Unfortunately, the rear screen means that wireless charging has not gotten added, so you will have to do the wired charging with a speedy 65-watt.

The most heartbreaking thing is the ROG Phone 5S is on sale in Taiwan, the hometown of Asus, but there is no plan to sell it overseas. It only means you’ll have to rely on third-party importers to get the fastest android phone in the world.
