New Comic Series: Geiger

Share

Geiger is one of Image Comic’s newest series. The first issue was released in April 2021, with new issues coming out about once a month. As of October 2021, there are only six issues out, so it’s not too late to get caught up before the series kicks off and becomes more popular. Who knows? It could become the next Batman or Wonder Woman.

General Plot

Geiger lives in a world that has been ravaged by nuclear warfare. Unsurprisingly, living in a nuclear wasteland can do some strange things to a person, like make them glow green and have superpowers. Will he use his powers to heal his world, or will he only make it more radioactive? Most people fear the glowing man, who they call Joe Glow or Meltdown Man, but he’d rather go by one plain and simple name– Geiger.

Geoff Johns

Geoff Johns is the writer behind this series. This isn’t his first time working on comics. He is perhaps most famous for creating the character Stargirl, which spun off its comic book series (2003) and live-action television series (2020). However, Gieger is his first work published outside of the DC universe, which he had previously worked in since 1999. Some of the comic series he worked on while at DC include JSA (2000-06), Justice League (2011-26), and Batman: Earth One (2012-2021).

He has also worked on a number of films, mostly also related to superheroes in the DC universe. He was a writer for Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and Wonder Woman 1984. He also worked as a producer on Green Lantern, Justice League, and will be producing Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which is expected to come out in 2023. Lastly, he worked as an executive producer on Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Birds of Prey, and Wonder Woman 1984.

Gary Frank

Gary Frank is a British comic book artist who has been working on comics since the 1990s. During this time, he has worked for Marvel, DC, Image Comics, Malibu Comics, and The Centennial. Since he has worked in the comic book industry for so long, his art credits are too numerous to name here. However, here are some of the highlights.

When working for DC, he made art for Batman: Earth One (Volumes 1-3), Doomsday Clock (2017-2019), and Action Comics (2007-11). For Marvel, he worked on The Avengers (2003), The Incredible Hulk (Volumes 1 and 2), and Doctor Strange Sorcerer Supreme (1995). For independent comic companies, he has worked on Godwheel (1995), Kin (2000), and Midnight Nation (2000-01).

Brad Anderson

Brad Anderson is the colorist for Gieger and has been doing similar work for DC, Marvel, and Dark Horse comics since the late 1990s. All in all, Brad Anderson has worked as a colorist for over 400 comics, and that’s just including the ones he did for DC! He is most famous for working on various Batman comics, as well as comics-related to Batman, such as Catwoman and various Joker comics. Other notables include Constantine, Damian: Son of Batman, Detective Comics, and Doomsday Clock.

With so much working history between these three men, they are sure to make something wonderful together. Check out Gieger to see their combined talents at work!
